Project DeremCo

The DeremCo project aims to develop system solutions focusing on advanced technologies and solutions for sustainable production and renewable energy sources. The project involves the collaboration of various research institutions, companies and organizations that strive to find solutions that will contribute to greater energy efficiency. It includes the development of new materials, technologies for optimizing energy consumption and smart systems for managing energy resources.

The aim of the project is to develop solutions that will be based on the interrelationship between technical and social ecosystems at the local and interregional level, in order to benefit the environment, industry, consumers and European society. By connecting institutions, organizations and companies, the relevant knowledge, industrial background and the ability to commercially exploit the results of this project are combined, thereby achieving a circular economy based on demand.

Our main activities are the production of plastic injection molds and the production of plastic products.

Production of plastic injection molds:

We produce the most demanding tools for products where the tolerances of plastic parts are measured in hundredths of a millimeter. Our production facility for plastic injection molds is equipped with modern CNC machines and state-of-the-art equipment for machine design and programming. The machines in our production are a 5-axis machining center, a 3-axis machining center, sinker erosion, wire erosion, grinding machines, a laser welding machine and a 3D measuring machine.

Plastic product production:

In 2022, we produced approximately 15,500,000 different plastic parts. 90% of our products are OEM products for the automotive industry and 10% other products. Our production is based on modern CNC plastic injection molding machines, a central granulate transport and drying system and a state-of-the-art control and measuring machine. Our machine park includes injection molding machines with clamping forces between 25 and 100 tons.

Vision:

We want to become an innovative company that will offer our customers comprehensive services from product development to serial deliveries of parts for the automotive industry. To achieve these goals, we live by our values, which are continuous improvement, personal approach, flexibility and responsiveness.

Role in the project

Assembly keys are plastic parts produced at OPS Breznik. Our goal is to offer a more sustainable version for our customers. The weight of the assembly key is approx. 75 g and the reinforcement addition is 30 wt. %. OPS Breznik wants to demonstrate in the project the possibility of using recycled glass fibers as reinforcement of thermoplastic composites for the assembly key. Therefore, waste glass composite material from Technol (waste composite parts) will be used as reinforcement (waste composite fibers) and nucleation agent (waste composite matrix) together with the necessary additives for the thermoplastic composite. The amount of waste glass fibers will determine the mechanical and thermal properties, the amount of waste matrix will determine the morphology of the thermoplastic composite resin. We expect approx. 45 wt.% addition of waste glass fibers and approx. 0.5% addition of waste matrix in thermoplastic composites. Prototypes will be manufactured in cooperation with project partners. In addition, the mixing of recycled glass fibers will be tested and carried out on an injection molding machine with side feeding of recycled glass fibers to prevent the length of the glass fibers.

Our company will upgrade the injection molding machine with a system for direct addition of recycled glass fibers, and the testing will take place at FTPO in cooperation with Politecnico di Milano, Tampereen Korkeakoulusaatio and Fundacion techalia Research & Innovation.
